Safeguarding and Prevent

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Safeguarding is the duty of care we all have to ensure all children, young people, adults and vulnerable adults are safe from harm. Harm is described as any of the following: physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, financial abuse, institutional abuse, neglect, self-neglect, domestic abuse, modern slavery.

Abuse of any form can manifest itself in a variety of ways such as physical injuries, emotional and behavioural changes, alcohol and substance misuse. All of us must be aware of any signs and symptoms that may be a factor of abuse taking place. If any form of abuse is suspected, please contact any of the below telephone numbers and seek support.

Abacus Training Group work closely with many Local Authorities. Our safeguarding Lead is Sam Mansfield who can be contacted on 0208 144 5693.

The Prevent duty is the duty in the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 on specified authorities, in the exercise of their functions, to have due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism. If there are any suspicions that radicalisation or extremism is taking place, then please contact the Abacus Safeguarding Team on the above telephone numbers. Please remember that in any emergency situation, 999 will be an appropriate and effective response should life be in danger due to safeguarding or Prevent Duty.
