THE WELLNESS WIRE
Aaaaaand Relax!
As the year draws to a close, it’s a wonderful time to pause and reflect on the months that have passed. Often, we are quick to look ahead to the new year and its potential challenges and goals, but it’s equally important to acknowledge our achievements, big and small, and to take some time to relax and rejuvenate. Let’s dedicate this newsletter to celebrating our successes and the importance of rest.
Acknowledging Your Achievements
Every one of us has had moments of success throughout the year, whether in our professional lives, personal growth, relationships, or hobbies. These achievements are milestones in our journey and deserve to be recognised and celebrated.
Why Celebrate Achievements?
- Builds Self-Confidence: Celebrating your successes, big or small, reinforces a positive mindset and builds self-confidence.
- Motivates for Future Goals: Acknowledging past successes can be a powerful motivator for future aspirations.
- Provides Perspective: It helps in recognising the progress made, even in a challenging year.
It’s OK to pause and celebrate
Life often throws us twists and turns, and it can be easy to get lost in the fast-paced, constantly connected, hectic world. Now is a good time to pause, celebrate what you have achieved, the person you are, put your feet up and relax!
Happy New Year!
Managing Panic Attacks
- Recognise the Attack: Understanding that you are having a panic attack and not a heart attack or other life-threatening condition can help you focus on coping strategies.
- Try humming: Humming a tune naturally helps to regulate our breathing and helps to refocus our mind, which can ease the attack.
- Grounding Techniques: Name 4 things you can see, 3 things you can touch, 2 things you can hear and 1 thing you can smell.
- Create a Calm Environment: If possible, move to a quiet and comfortable space. Reducing sensory input can help ease panic symptoms.
- Avoidance of Stimulants: Stimulants like caffeine can exacerbate panic attacks. Reducing or avoiding these can help in managing symptoms.
- Seek Professional Help: If panic attacks are frequent, they are being caused by something; it’s important to seek help from a mental health professional. Therapy, particularly cognitive-behavioural therapy, can be highly effective.
