Breast cancer develops when cells in the breast grow out of control. These cells usually form a tumour that can be seen on an X-ray or felt as a lump. It is important to note that breast cancer is not exclusive to women; men can also be diagnosed with breast cancer, albeit at a lower rate.

Whilst breast cancer is more common in women, around 1% of breast cancer diagnoses are men. All of the signs mentioned above apply to men, too, and men should be making the effort to chest their chests as well. It may be less likely, but early detection can be life-saving.
